We enjoyed walking through the aisles and picking up some items. It's not designed like many grocery stores where the aisles are all going the same direction. It feels almost like a maze where you enter one section and cut through a portal to enter another department. You find brands that aren't typical, but have more emphasis on your overall well-being and not just trying to sell products.

I purchased chicken breast from Central Market on March 23, 2026 around 8:00 PM and drove straight home (about a 15-minute drive) where I immediately placed it in my refrigerator. The next morning around 11:00 AM, I opened the package for meal prep and was immediately hit with a strong rotten smell. The chicken was also slimy to the touch.. clear signs that it was spoiled and unsafe to eat. I checked the label and noticed it was marked “Use or Freeze by 3-23-26,” which was the same day I purchased it. I returned to the store shortly afterward, and the manager offered to replace the chicken, which I appreciated. However, when I went back to select a replacement, I found six more packages of the exact same chicken still on the shelf, all with the same 3-23-26 use-by date — now being sold on 3-24. I brought this to the attention of the meat manager, and his response is summarized best by “mistakes happen.” While I understand that errors can occur, leaving multiple packages of expired poultry on the shelf is a serious food safety concern, especially when one of those packages had already spoiled within hours of purchase. I visited this Hyper market yesterday with my family. Very huge collection of daily needs of our kitchen rather I can say of our stomach. High quality products and displayed very nicely.

More Than a Supermarket – A Culinary Sanctuary in Austin! Central Market is hands down my favorite grocery store in town. The quality and freshness of their produce are consistently superior, even compared to H-E-B. What I love most is their curated selection of unique and organic products that you simply can't find in a standard supermarket. As a massive fan of New Mexico Hatch Chiles, my absolute favorite time of year is their annual festival in August. Central Market hauls in crates of fresh chiles straight from New Mexico, and the aroma of them roasting outside is heavenly! I always stock up on fresh chiles to roast at home and explore all the creative Hatch-infused products they develop. Beyond the food, both Central Market locations in Austin offer live music performances, which creates such a vibrant and upscale community vibe. Whenever I'm having a bad day, a stroll through their beautifully arranged aisles of fresh vegetables and flowers instantly lifts my spirits. It’s not just a place to shop; it’s a place to experience the best of Austin’s food culture. Highly recommended!

11/8/25, 4:50ish pm. Register 9, cuddos to the cashier! i think her name is Armis? She had red hair…. she was the coolest! the friendliest cashier ever, so helpful and nice. really made us feel at home in the big city of austin! i will definitely be coming back! it’s so beautiful and colorful in the store. everything was fresh! the atmosphere was busy but it was still spacious for my sisters stroller! highly recommend:)))
